The Song Of Wandering Aengus

I first heard this in Equilibrium and really liked it. Although it was only last night I learned that there is more to the poem than I knew.

Had I the heavens’ embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

While I wouldn't suggest showing it to your students (nothing political about the movie at all ;), I have to say Equilibrium is one of my favorite movies, too.

Have you seen Garden State yet?

Safe travels in your wanderings this coming year. Z asks about "Uncle Brian" (and his Chacos - she can't tell the difference between chacos, keens and tevas - where have I gone wrong?!) and I've been telling her you're going to China. I don't think she really gets it, though, or maybe she thinks China's just on the other side of the Blue Ridge from here. She seems to expect to see you around, which is funny since the only other time you guys hung out before she was non-verbal, non-mobile and non a bunch of other things. What can i say, you make an impression. :)

I know you'll be swamped (country's 500th anniversary to plan, wife to murder, guilder to frame for it) but when you get a chance, send a postcard her way - she'll think it's cool (and more so even later) that it came from you (in China!).

Hugs.
